There's a job opening, at Simmons, that I'm semi-interested in, but can't decide if I should apply or not.

If you're using it either as a stepping stone to something else or a space-holder until the right job comes along, it certainly isn't a failure. Just know that you're doing it because you want to. Who gives a shit what other people think. Hell, one Simmons grad left the Globe to return to working at Simmons.

What job is it anyway?

It's with the Alumni Office - a Writer/Assistant Editor job, doing the titled things for the Review magazine they have, as well as proofreading and designing various other materials - programs, invites, etc.

I just can't decide if the job was somewhere else would I be interested - as in, am I drawn to the job because it's at Simmons and I find that comforting, or am I opposed to it because it's at Simmons?

Though, I suppose there's no harm in just applying.
